An Introduction to Well Logs and Log Analysis provides a review of well logs in petroleum exploration and development, dealing with lithologic and mud logs, the various types of open-hole logs, cased hole logs and their selection and applications. This course is designed for someone desiring an overview of well logging processes, allowing them to recognize the various types of logs commonly used, the reasons for use of particular logs in specific settings and analysis of the data obtained.

Process
This course has been formatted specifically for distance learning and is available through an innovative new tool, recently developed at the University of Offenberg in Germany. An outline of the course is available at this link. It consists of approximately 180 powerpoint slides, arranged into two sections, plus questions to ensure understanding of the material presented. The 1 CEU mentioned above is awarded upon completion of a final, multiple choice examination. However, if the course is taken without the final exam, upon request the student will be awarded 0.5 CEU's.
